Workiva Cover Letter — Adam Roberts

Tailor for VP or Sr Director role as needed. VP version below; adjust scope language for Sr Director.

Dear Hiring Team,

Workiva’s $100M acquisition of Sustain.Life last year signaled something I’ve been waiting for: a platform company getting serious about ESG reporting at enterprise scale. I’ve spent the past several years at Clarity AI helping asset managers and asset owners navigate exactly this challenge—building trusted advisory relationships with CFOs, Chief Sustainability Officers, and compliance teams as they operationalize sustainability reporting. The opportunity to bring that expertise to Workiva’s connected platform approach is compelling.

Why I’m a fit for this role:

At Clarity AI, I’ve led customer success for financial services organizations operating in complex, regulated environments. My customers include global asset managers and institutional investors who must reconcile ESG data across multiple frameworks (SFDR, CSRD, ISSB, SEC climate rules) while demonstrating measurable value to their stakeholders. This has required me to:

  • Drive proactive, outcomes-based engagement — shifting from reactive support to strategic partnership, with clear value realization milestones tied to regulatory deadlines and business outcomes
  • Own renewal forecasting and risk management — building early warning systems, conducting regular health reviews, and partnering closely with Sales on joint account strategy
  • Build C-level relationships across business and IT — serving as executive sponsor for strategic accounts, aligning platform roadmaps to enterprise transformation initiatives, and championing the “art of the possible” with sustainability and finance leaders
  • Lead teams through transformation — developing talent, establishing operating cadences, and scaling a function while maintaining high-touch engagement for complex accounts

Why Workiva, why now:

The regulatory tailwinds are real—CSRD compliance deadlines are approaching, ISSB standards are going global, and US companies are preparing for similar requirements. I’ve lived the customer pain of stitching together point solutions for sustainability reporting; Workiva’s platform vision of connected reporting, risk, and assurance workflows is exactly what the market needs.

I’m particularly excited about scaling Signature Experience for enterprise and financial services customers, helping them build Centers of Excellence and governance frameworks that drive sustained platform value—not just compliance checkboxes.

I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss how my financial services and sustainability expertise can accelerate Workiva’s growth in these strategic segments.

Best regards,
Adam Roberts
